Our first recommendation

Dining in Katowice

Discover Katowice around the table. Begin with Śląska Prohibicja in Nikiszowiec, then plan your next meals around a walk, a concert and your appetite. Here is our selection for the culinary side of your stay.

Śląska Prohibicja — at the table in Nikiszowiec

A place to begin

Śląska Prohibicja at Krawczyka 1 is our first suggestion for guests who want to combine exploring Katowice with regional food. The restaurant is in Nikiszowiec. Make it the destination rather than a hurried stop: a walk around the neighbourhood, a shared meal and an unhurried return to Hornigold make a rewarding afternoon.

Silesian roots, contemporary cooking

The restaurant draws on Silesian cooking, adding contemporary ideas and a seasonal menu. It is a good starting point for discovering the region through food. Ask the team about regional touches and seasonal dishes before ordering. Try something beyond your everyday choices and leave time to explore the flavours rather than rushing your meal.

Combine your meal with a walk

Our suggestion: arrive in Nikiszowiec early, stroll through its streets and then sit down to eat. If you want photographs, take them before the meal, without another appointment pressing. Avoid squeezing Nikiszowiec between two distant attractions. On a concert day, book an earlier table and allow time to return to the centre.

Leave room for dessert

Śląska Prohibicja also has a confectionery offering desserts and cakes. It gives you a reason to linger after the main course. For a family occasion, ask in advance about ordering a celebration cake; for an ordinary afternoon, explore the current dessert selection. Do not assume a particular dessert is permanently available: check with the team.

The garden and the seasons

In warmer months, the garden amid Nikiszowiec’s buildings adds another reason to visit. Check whether it is operating on your chosen day and how seating works. Do not assume an indoor reservation includes a garden table. If a restaurant concert or event interests you, consult its current calendar and confirm the arrangements separately.

Before visiting: tables, travel and guest needs

Address: Krawczyka 1, Katowice–Nikiszowiec. Reservations: +48 32 723 28 99 or restauracja@slaskaprohibicja.pl. The official website lists daily restaurant hours of 12:00–22:00; check exceptions before leaving. A reservation is accepted only after the restaurant confirms it. Specify party size, children’s needs, allergies and accessibility requirements. Plan your journey from Kopernika 6 without assuming a fixed taxi fare.

More places to consider

Tatiana

Staromiejska 5, Katowice

Tatiana is an option for Polish and regional cooking in the centre. Its published menu includes Silesian roulade, potato dumplings and red cabbage. Consider lunch after a walk around the Market Square or a relaxed dinner. Check the current menu and reserve directly with the restaurant.

27th Floor

Uniwersytecka 13, Katowice

27th Floor at the Courtyard by Marriott combines panoramic city views with a restaurant and cocktail bar. Consider it for a dinner where the setting matters as much as the meal. The cooking follows seasonal inspiration. If a particular view or celebration matters to you, discuss seating when booking.

Żebrownia

Zamkowa 2C, Katowice–Nikiszowiec

Żebrownia is another Nikiszowiec address, with a menu centred on grilled food and meat. Consider it if your walk leaves you in the mood for ribs and an informal meal. Check the current starters and options for your group too. Its website says individual table reservations are taken by phone.

Żurownia

Juliusza Ligonia 16, Katowice

Żurownia presents Silesian flavours in an informal, contemporary style. The regional guide highlights sour rye soup and street-food inspiration. Consider it for a casual city-centre stop. Confirm the current offer and hours with the venue; the link opens a regional listing, not a booking system.

Plan a day around food

Two ideas for your day

A Nikiszowiec day: a walk, lunch at Śląska Prohibicja and dessert, at your own pace. A city-centre day: the Market Square and nearby streets, followed by Tatiana or Żurownia; save a panoramic evening at 27th Floor for another occasion. Pick one main meal: you need not visit every venue in a single stay.

Children, diet and accessibility

Before booking, ask about high chairs, space for a pushchair, step-free access and suitable dishes. For allergies, request current ingredient and preparation information from the restaurant. A meat-free dish is not necessarily vegan, gluten-free or suitable for an allergy. We do not assume these facilities or dietary options without venue confirmation.

A meal before a concert

When booking, say what time you need to leave. Allow time for travel, collecting coats and entering the event. Contact the venue early for weekends or larger groups. If plans change, cancel directly with the restaurant: the stay enquiry form does not manage restaurant reservations.

Sources and information updates

Information checked on 4 October 2026 using restaurant websites and the regional tourism guide. This is an editorial selection. Check menus, prices, hours and table availability directly before visiting. A Hornigold room booking does not include a table or a meal at these restaurants.
