History and context
Będzin Castle was expanded under Casimir the Great in the fourteenth century to protect the borderlands. Farther afield, the Kraków–Częstochowa Upland offers a castle route among limestone rocks, including Ogrodzieniec. Each building has its own sequence of construction, destruction and restoration.
Take a closer look
Choose one castle as your main destination and adapt your walk to the weather and your group. Stone steps and uneven surfaces need care. Viewing a monument from outside and following an indoor ticketed route may involve different access rules.
