Gliwice: the radio station and the history of propaganda

Technology can connect people, but it can also serve manipulation. The radio station invites reflection on both possibilities.

History and context

The Gliwice radio station is associated with the German Nazi false-flag operation of 31 August 1939, preceding Germany’s invasion of Poland. It is now a branch of the Gliwice Museum. Its technical heritage also provides a starting point for examining propaganda and the manipulation of information.

Take a closer look

Begin with the museum’s account of events, then study the structure. A striking tower is not necessarily a viewpoint: check access with the museum. One question remains relevant afterwards: how do we know that information we trust is true?
