History and context
Historic Silesia and today’s Silesian Voivodeship are not identical. Upper Silesian history includes Polish, German, Czech and Jewish heritage alongside residents’ Silesian identity. The Silesian Museum explores this complexity; the Silesian Uprisings Museum provides context for the 1919–1921 uprisings and the 1921 plebiscite.
Take a closer look
Rather than looking for one simple answer, study everyday objects: a family photograph, a tool, a school exercise book. Ask who used them and how war or a new border changed their lives. This approach leaves room for curiosity and respect without giving every resident the same biography.
