Zabrze: Guido Mine and the Queen Louise Adit

Underground, your perspective changes. In place of a city skyline come questions about light, water, transport and safe working conditions.

History and context

Guido Mine was founded in 1855. The Queen Louise Adit presents another part of Zabrze’s mining heritage, connected with historic workings and mine drainage. Both belong to the Coal Mining Museum, but their visitor routes and starting points are not interchangeable.

Take a closer look

Choose a route with the whole group’s comfort in mind. Check stairs, underground conditions, minimum age and available languages. Leave time to listen: a technical detail becomes more meaningful when connected to a person’s working life.
